• Ages: 8–18 years old
Camp Brookwoods is a summer camp for boys ages 8–16, Camp Deer Run is a summer camp for girls ages 8–16, and Moose River Outpost is a summer camp for teens ages 11–17. The Explorer Club program is for ages 8–10, the Leadership Development program is for ages 15–18, the Horsemanship program is for ages 10–18, and the SCUBA Diving program is for ages 10–12. Each day, campers have 20 minutes of personal quiet time outside their cabin before breakfast, cabin-based Bible studies that span two weeks and typically cover one New Testament and one Old Testament book in a month, and evening devotions led by counselors as cabins wind down for the night.
Christian Camps and Conferences, Inc. was established in 1944 and serves as the umbrella organization for Camp Brookwoods and Deer Run in New Hampshire and Moose River Outpost in Maine. It is a 501(c)3 non-profit and a network of non-denominational camps and conference centers that is not affiliated with any particular church but adheres to the tenets of the historical Christian faith. Campers come from a variety of faith, economic, and racial backgrounds. CCCI’s mission is “To foster vibrant Christian communities located in awe-inspiring outdoor settings in which young people are spiritually transformed through Christ-centered relationships.” The organization describes itself as not being an “altar call” kind of camp and is trusting the Holy Spirit to stir up hearts. Many alumni describe camp as a “thin place,” a place where they feel closer to the presence of God. One testimonial notes that campers make new friends, are their own person, and consider a broader outlook on life.
Staff are young adults who love the Lord, are committed to their personal relationship with Him, demonstrate good character, have teachable hearts, love kids, and thrive in God’s Creation.
