About
Fundamentals Sports Camp focuses on learning the skills and concepts of a variety of sports and games. Campers play a wide variety of sports, take part in Game Day every Friday that consists mostly of playing games, and create a “Play Book” made up of arts and crafts and notes from the off field curriculum.

Fundamentals Sports Camp has been teaching character education through sports since 1998. The camp follows a core curriculum of off the field character building that focuses on shaping confidence, sportsmanship, and life skills in kids, with character building as an integral part of the coaching process. Each week has a variety of sports with a weekly focus, and the featured sport is played at least once every day. The off field curriculum includes classroom lessons about sportsmanship, sports in current events, appropriate role models, and more, along with informal daily discussions on sports current events, character building, sportsmanship, and choosing role models. Each camper creates a personal “Play Book” that includes arts and crafts projects and notes from these off field lessons.
All coaches at Fundamentals Sports Camp are professionally trained educators with hands-on experience as early education teachers. The camp was founded in 1998 by its current director, Greg Bartiromo. On Game Day every Friday, all campers and coaches wear camp shirts or uniforms of their favorite teams and participate in an all-camp fun day. The mission of Fundamentals Sports Camp states that it provides quality sports and character education to young boys and girls, teaches children the values of teamwork and commitment, and identifies these as essential elements of success in sports and in life.
Parent feedback includes comments such as one parent calling it “an exceptional sports camp where kids learn the skills but also the importance of sportsmanship and being a good teammate,” and noting that the staff is “great.” Another parent describes Fundamentals Sports Camp as “a great place where our two sons play different sports each week, learn to respect other kids and the coaches, and have an amazing time throughout the day,” and states that their children are returning for another summer.
