The Art School at Old Church offers classes in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass beads, basketry, printmaking, digital photography, and collage. Its summer camp, Blast of Art! for Kids, runs during the second and third weeks of August and includes these types of studio activities. Classes are offered year-round over four semesters, with day and evening courses, workshops, and events for children, teens, adults, and families.

The Art School at Old Church is a nonprofit, non-sectarian art and cultural center that was founded in 1974 by artists who transformed a 19th-century church building. The 4,800-square-foot building includes four modern studios equipped for drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass beads, basketry, printmaking, digital photography, and collage, as well as two galleries, the Mikhail Zakin Gallery and the Café Gallery. The school’s mission is to provide a wide range of arts experiences that enrich lives in its community and across the region, and it states a long-standing commitment to advancing diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, supported in part by a Diversity Committee that includes Urvashi Joneja, Zola Kendi, Maureen Lostumbo, Carrie Ortiz, Judy Schaefer, Valerie Sutton, and Rachel Woursell. Its programs are supported in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Historic & Cultural Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, in partnership with the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural & Historic Affairs, and it hosts the Old Church Pottery Show each year in the first week of December, which attracts more than 1,000 artists, collectors, and enthusiasts.
