About
JEI Learning Center offers weekly sessions in math, English, Reading & Writing, Problem Solving Math, and Brain Safari. Each week, students receive one workbook for the subject they are enrolled in, and instructors review the key concept pages of the week with the students. Students are offered homework to reinforce concepts taught at the center, and JEI recommends daily practice in small doses to increase retention.
• Schedule: Students come to the center once a week, and the weekly session for each subject is typically one hour long.
JEI is a leader in global education and has been helping children for over 40 years in achieving academic success. A diagnostic test is administered to determine each child’s educational needs, and the results are organized into an Individual Progress Prescription Report (IPPR). Once the IPPR results are available, a JEI Learning Center team member schedules a free consultation with parents to review the results and recommend programs. Students can enroll with JEI at any time of the year, and classes typically have a ratio of five students to one teacher. Well-qualified instructors, a proven method, and a low student-to-instructor ratio are identified as key elements of the program’s approach.
The JEI Self-Learning Method uses individualized study programs and programmed workbooks that are described as self-learning, with clear learning objectives, small steps, and a spiral structure. The Self-Learning Philosophy states that the creativity of an individual can be unlocked when infinite potential and natural abilities are combined with the right educational environment. The program describes a triad of support made up of the individualized Self-Learning System, JEI instructors who motivate and engage students, and parents who continue to encourage students at home. JEI states its philosophy as “A Better Life Through Better Education” and describes a goal of becoming the world’s top educational organization. It states that it works toward this goal by creating an educational environment where children have the ability to become strong leaders of tomorrow by helping to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
The math program encourages conceptual understanding through easy and small steps, builds understanding of mathematical thinking across all domains, and strives to build self-learning behavior along with the programmed workbooks and diagnostic system. The English program introduces and practices grammar skills, incorporates each skill into a short story, and then practices the same skill using the contents from that short story. The Reading & Writing program fosters reading comprehension, writing, proofreading, and editing skills, explores various literary genres at each grade level, and runs as a 34-week program that progresses with the introduction of ten fiction and nonfiction books. The Problem Solving Math program builds basic problem solving skills, develops critical thinking and problem solving strategies, and features Common Core type questions. The Brain Safari program includes seven major critical thinking domains and two creative thinking domains and is described as developing and enhancing overall cognitive ability.
