About
JEI Learning Center offers programs in Math, English, Reading & Writing, Problem Solving Math, and Brain Safari. Each week, students receive one workbook for each subject they are enrolled in, and students are offered homework to reinforce concepts taught at the center.
• Schedule: Students come to the center once a week, and the weekly session for each subject is typically one hour long.
JEI Learning Center’s Reading & Writing program is a 34-week program that progresses with the introduction of ten fiction and nonfiction books and explores various types of literary genres in each grade level. The Math program encourages conceptual understanding through easy and small steps, builds understanding of mathematical thinking across all domains, and uses programmed workbooks and a diagnostic system. The English program introduces and practices grammar skills, incorporates each skill in a short story, and then practices the same skill using the contents of that story. The Problem Solving Math program builds basic problem solving skills, develops critical thinking and problem solving strategies, and features Common Core type questions. The Brain Safari program includes seven major critical thinking domains and two creative thinking domains and focuses on overall cognitive ability.
JEI Learning Center uses the JEI Self-Learning Method, which is an individualized study program supported by programmed workbooks that have clear learning objectives, small steps, and a spiral structure. A diagnostic test is administered to determine each child’s educational needs, and the results are organized into an Individual Progress Prescription Report (IPPR). Once the IPPR results are available, a JEI Learning Center team member schedules a free consultation with parents to review the results and recommend programs. Classes typically have a ratio of five students to one teacher, and JEI recommends daily practice in small doses to increase retention.
JEI Learning Center states that well-qualified instructors, a proven method, and a low student to instructor ratio are key parts of its approach. The individualized Self-Learning System is combined with JEI instructors who motivate and engage students and with parents who continue to encourage students at home, forming a triad that supports students in the Self-Learning Method. JEI has been helping children achieve academic success for over 40 years and presents itself as a leader in global education.
JEI’s mission is to improve children’s study habits through constant provision of customized programmed workbooks to help each student reach full potential. JEI states the philosophy “A Better Life Through Better Education” and describes its goal as becoming the world’s top educational organization. JEI also states that it aims to create an educational environment where all children have the ability to become strong leaders of tomorrow by helping to develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.
