NJ Ballet School Summer Programs offers several summer options, including a Summer Intensive, an Elite Youth Intensive, and an Open Youth Intensive. These programs are part of New Jersey Ballet and NJ Ballet School and are connected to the NJ Ballet Company.
• Schedule: Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 9:30pm, Saturday from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and Sunday with varying hours.

New Jersey Ballet Company was established in 1958, and in 1971 it premiered its first performance of Nutcracker at the Paper Mill Playhouse, which has become New Jersey’s longest running professional production of Nutcracker. The Company was the first dance company in the United States to present the full-length Esmeralda. New Jersey Ballet’s Founder is Carolyn Clark, whose dance partner from Ballet Theater was George Tomal. Maria Kowroski joined New Jersey Ballet Company as the Acting Artistic Director in November 2021 and became Artistic Director in September 2022, and she is listed as Artistic Director of New Jersey Ballet. In 1994 Ms. Kowroski received the Princess Grace Award and in 2011 she received the Jerome Robbins award.
New Jersey Ballet presents a free public performance featuring bold and beloved works from today’s most celebrated choreographers, as well as “New Voices. Bold Visions.”, described as a celebration of the artists shaping the future of ballet. The organization also offers a sensory friendly performance of “Sleeping Beauty” with adjusted lighting and sound levels, a relaxed atmosphere, and flexible seating options for individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families. New Jersey Ballet’s Spring Gala is described as an evening celebrating the artistry and impact of NJB, with proceeds supporting the Ballet’s mission, which includes Ms. Clark’s vision to establish a professional dance company for New Jersey while maintaining high standards of quality and artistry.
This work is supported in part by funding from the Union County Board of County Commissioners and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority’s A.R.T. – Phase II Grant Program. Roderick George is a 2024 recipient of the Princess Grace Award for Dance Performance and Choreography, and Penny Saunders is a 2016 Princess Grace Choreographic Fellowship recipient. Reviews note that New Jersey Ballet is “that amazing,” that the dancers are “exquisite,” and that the company has “improved significantly” since Maria Kowroski assumed the role of Artistic Director.
