AlphaBEST Before and After School Programs – Glen Ridge Public Schools offers daily enrichment activities that include coding, robotics, art, drama, Spanish, Mandarin, sign language, fitness and sports, engineering and maker activities, digital animation, LEGO robotics, creative arts such as newspaper and playwriting, organized games, and cultural immersion with the Mandarin Chinese unit. Every student participates in enrichment activities every day at no additional charge, and all students receive snacks, homework help, recreation, and student-choice clubs. A daily snack is provided, and students are welcome to bring their own nut-free snacks from home if they prefer.

The program follows procedures and regulations for licensed child care, including fingerprinted background checks for all staff and extensive staff training on operating a safe and inclusive program, emergency procedures and drills aligned to each school and district, and first aid including CPR, airborne illnesses, and epi-pen administration. Staff are immediately visible to school administration, parents, and students and can be recognized by an AlphaBEST identification badge and branded t-shirt. AlphaBEST uses a tiered system of supports called Creating Connected Communities for handling behavioral issues, and Inclusion Specialists collaborate with families and schools to support children with special needs.
