Porch Light Studio, Stage & Schools offers educational theatre programs that include Academy Programs, studio classes, a Youth Performance Troupe, private lessons, workshops and mini-camps, in-school programs, summer camps through its Summer Stage offerings, birthday parties, an online store, seminars, and school programs. For over 15 years, Porch Light has produced hundreds of original and scripted works and has educated thousands of students throughout the NJ and NYC area. Porch Light Productions focuses on the production of original and scripted works while also providing instructional classes, seminars, and workshops, and its Youth Performance Troupe (YPT) is an award-winning, audition-only program. Both locations offer a wide variety of options including studio classes, Academy Programs, private lessons, school programs, workshops, summer camps, the Youth Performance Troupe, and birthday parties for ages 5 and up.
Porch Light Studio, Stage & Schools states that its mission is to build the next generation of performing artists through unique teaching methods that focus on “BUILDING CHARACTERS” and one-of-a-kind experiences. The program describes theatre education as a way for students to think creatively, problem solve, work collaboratively, hone communication and presentation skills, gain an appreciation for the performing arts, express creativity, build self-confidence, and have a safe space to express themselves and learn life lessons. After nearly 15 years in Glen Rock, NJ, Porch Light is opening a second location in Cedar Grove, NJ, and notes that the Cedar Grove location offers an “awesome line-up” of classes, performance programs, lessons, and birthday parties. One parent testimonial from a Girl Scout coordinator describes a private 90-minute session where the troop tried something new and “had fun for 90 minutes,” and a student testimonial from a Porch Light Academy student describes the environment as accepting, with teachers who are “really open.”
