Porch Light Studio, Stage & Schools

Porch Light Studio, Stage & Schools offers summer camps, studio classes, academy programs, the Youth Performance Troupe, private lessons, in-school programs, workshops and mini-camps, and academy tracks for younger and older students. Activities include acting, voice, dance, singing, movement, instrumental music, audition and self-tape work, and college prep.

Programs

• Summer Camps — Grades K-12. All experience levels. · Porch Light Summer Stage offers opportunities for young artists to build performing arts skills in a fun and creative space.
• Studio Classes — Grades K-12. All experience levels. · Technique-based training in various areas of the performing arts for beginner to advanced students.
• Academy Programs — Grades K-12. All experience levels. · Training in acting, voice and dance in preparation for a fully-staged musical performed on the stage.
• Youth Performance Troupe (YPT) — Grades 4-8 only. Audition required. · Award-winning triple threat program with advanced training in acting, voice and dance.
• Private Lessons — Ages 7+. All experience levels. · Private and semi-private lessons are available in acting, voice, instrumental, audition/self-tape and college prep.
• In-School Programs — Performing arts education provided throughout Bergen, Essex and surrounding counties.
• Workshops & Mini-Camps — Theatre camps and workshops; mini-camps are scheduled periodically through the season during many school breaks.
• Academy Summer Musical — Designed for middle and high school students. · Students improve performance skills while working on contemporary projects and prepare for a final performance.
• Academy Mini — K-2 students. · Introductory program that includes a fall, winter and spring session and ends with a final showcase.
• Academy Jr — Elementary-age students. · Focused acting, singing and movement/dance training; each season includes a fall, winter, spring and summer production.
• Academy — Designed for middle and high school students. · Training in acting, singing and movement/dance in preparation for a final performance.

About the provider

Porch Light says it has been operating for over 15 years and has produced hundreds of original and scripted works. It says it has educated thousands of students throughout the NJ and NYC area and has partnered with area schools for over 10 years. Its mission statement is Building Characters Through Performing Arts Education, and it says it is dedicated to building the next generation of performing artists.

• Birthday Parties — Ages 5+. · Theatre-themed parties with games and activities for children.

Summer camps are for Grades K-12 and all experience levels. YPT is grades 4-8 only and audition required. Private lessons are ages 7+. Birthday parties are ages 5+. Mini-camps are scheduled periodically through the season during many school breaks. Workshops are offered as scheduled special projects or private events for Girl Scout, Boy Scout, Home School or other groups.
