Dance Innovations Inc. offers over 70 dance and performing arts classes, including Lyrical, Classical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary Ballet, and Modern techniques. The program also includes combination classes that blend Ballet with Tap, Acrobatics, Jazz, or Hip Hop, as well as integrated creative movement and physically integrated dance. Students may participate in performances with the Dance Innovations Performance Company.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Semester-length classes offered on a 20-week rate, with studio hours through July 20th on Monday 10:30–12:00, Tuesday 4:30–6:30, Wednesday 1:00–3:00, and Thursday 10:30–12:30 and 4:30–6:30; a new dance program for individuals with neurologic diagnoses meets on select Wednesdays 11:00–12:00 in summer and starting in the fall
• Price: Individual Class Rates: 30 minutes — $22.00; 45 minutes — $26.00; 60 minutes — $30.00; 75 minutes — $34.00; 90 minutes — $38.00. Semester (20 Week Rate): 30 minutes — $440.00; 45 minutes — $520.00; 60 minutes — $600.00; 75 minutes — $680.00; 90 minutes — $760.00. Recital costumes: $125.00 costume fee per technique class for recital. Walk-ins: add $3 to class price. Multiple Class Discounts: 5% off 2nd class or 10% off 3rd class. Family Discount: 5% off 2nd child’s first class or 10% off 3rd child’s first class. Private Lessons: eligibility requires registration for at least 4 classes. Payment accepted: Cash or Check. Only one discount applies; combinations are not permitted.
Dance Innovations Inc. celebrates 40 years of excellence in dance education and artistic innovation. The program offers classes for preschoolers through adults, including combination classes for preschool students ages 2½ to 7 that blend multiple dance styles, and Performance Group classes that are by audition only. A new dance program for individuals with neurologic diagnoses is led by a neurologic physical therapist.
The mission of Dance Innovations Inc. states that it is committed to excellence in dance education and artistic innovation and provides a welcoming space for all abilities, where dancers of all ages find joy, creativity, and community. The studio includes an integrated creative movement company, Envision Dance Exchange, which was established to create, perform, educate, and support dancers with all abilities through physically integrated dance, collaborating with dancers with and without disabilities.
Artistic Director Susan McCutcheon Coutts holds a BA in Dance and Movement Therapy and a Post-Graduate Certification as a Dance Therapist from the University of Maryland, has experience with Pennsylvania Ballet Co. choreography and teaching, and serves as Artistic Director and Head Choreographer for Dance Innovations Performance Company and Artistic Director of Envision Dance Exchange. She is a Dance Representative for the Arts Council of the Morris Area and NJ State Scholarship Committee, New Jersey Dance Chairman of the National Society of Arts and Letters, and a Board and Executive Committee Member of Dance New Jersey, and has received the Arts Council of the Morris Area 2001 Joyce Talbot Outstanding Arts Educator Award, national recognition in Dance Teacher Magazine and Dance Studio Life Magazine, Dance Studio Life Magazine “Generous Heart,” “Morris On Stage” 1st Place choreographer, and Outstanding Performer’s (Choreographer) of the Year Award from Sea World, Orlando. Instructors include Bonnie Zwigard, a Boston Conservatory BFA Musical Theater graduate and IAAPA Winner – Hershey Park Dance-Dance-Dance, and Cassidy Svercauski, who holds a BA in Dance Education, is a certified Yoga Instructor, and is pursuing a Masters in Exercise Science & Sports; guest teacher Connor Bourke is an alum of New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Department of Dance, and a company dancer with Second Avenue Dance Company.
Dance Innovations Inc. supports community causes through DIPF performances and has presented performances as part of Morris Arts Council “Arts in Education Assemblies Programs” throughout New Jersey and New York since 2003. Envision Dance Exchange focuses on physically integrated dance with dancers with and without disabilities, and Susan McCutcheon Coutts is a current guest resident for ECLC of Chatham's Summer Program.
