About

Hamilton Park Montessori School Programs follow the vision of Maria Montessori and use a curriculum that includes mathematics, language, geography, science and social science, creative arts, physical movement, sensory learning, and practical living. The programs include a Bridge program for the youngest students, an Early Childhood program, and a Middle School that is developed in accord with Montessori’s views on adolescents and learning. The teaching team maintains what is called a Prepared Environment based on what they observe is needed by the students.

• Ages: 1–13 years old
• Schedule: Office hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM

The Bridge program serves children from 12 months to 3 years old and uses smaller classrooms to bridge the gap between home and early childhood learning environments. The Early Childhood program serves children ages three to six years in mixed-age groupings that include peer mentorship among students. The Middle School at Hamilton Park Montessori School is developed in line with Montessori’s views on how adolescents learn.

Hamilton Park Montessori School opened in 2006 with two early childhood classrooms, and 19 years later the community includes almost 300 students across 15 classrooms. HPMS is represented by a diverse, well-educated, and enthusiastic team of educators. The school’s mission is to educate children from infancy through eighth grade using Maria Montessori’s values and scientific observation of learning, with a curriculum that lays a foundation in academic subjects, creative arts, movement, sensory learning, and practical living. Many families and faculty members travel to the school by foot or bicycle, and some arrive by car or public transportation.

Maria Montessori, whose vision guides the school, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her advocacy of children and her work toward world peace. One current parent with three children at the school reports that her children have attended since infancy and describes her oldest as thriving in his third year in Lower Elementary, her middle child as trusting her teachers as much as family, and her toddler as eager to enter school each day and receiving hugs from teachers at the end of the day. Another parent describes the school as a first choice for their daughter and notes that the school’s warm and collaborative culture matches their family and that they see it as laying the foundation for their child’s development.
