About
Harbor Hills Day Camp offers activities that include sports, swim, arts & wonder, adventure, boating & fishing, horseback riding, creative play, and special events. The camp provides door-to-door transportation on buses that have seatbelts, air conditioning, and a GPS monitoring system, and it runs a program just for transportation so that campers can enjoy the bus ride as part of the camp day. Lunches are prepared each day on premises, with a completely separate kitchen where vegetarian, vegan, kosher, gluten-free, or egg-free meals are prepared, and the camp is peanut and tree nut aware and does not serve foods with nuts of any kind.
• Ages: 4–13 years old
Harbor Hills Day Camp has been providing New Jersey children with experiences and memories since 1963 and describes itself as New Jersey's Premier Summer Day Camp since that time. The program is organized into a distinctly different and age-appropriate structure with Junior Camp for children entering Pre-K and Kindergarten, Main Camp for children entering grades 1–4, and Senior Camp for children entering grades 5–8. The camp has a year-round staff who think of themselves as a family and also includes international staff from countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and more.
Division Leaders at Harbor Hills Day Camp are all teachers and school professionals, and many of them are parents. Specialists are certified teachers and coaches, and counselors are all college-aged with a stated desire to work with children. Mike is the camp’s director and shares that helping children explore, discover, and grow is one of his life’s passions, and that Harbor Hills is a place where exploration is encouraged and every child is supported with care and intention, and that camp is a gift.
The camp’s mission statement says that Harbor Hills Day Camp is a place where personal connections thrive and friendships last beyond the summer, and that whether campers are new or returning, the relationships they build become the heart of their experience and the reason they return year after year. The camp states that it delivers a summer camp experience with many activities, mature staff, and a welcoming camp spirit. The program also shares quotes that reflect its activity areas and philosophy, including thoughts on sports from Kobe Bryant, swimming from Michael Phelps, art from Pablo Picasso, adventure from Edmund Hillary, fishing and horseback riding from George Foreman and Rolf Kopfle, and play and creativity from Mr. Rogers and Shel Silverstein.
All bus routes are driven by the Transportation Coordinator as well as bus drivers before camp begins to plan the best route possible. The camp notes that it has a program focused on transportation so that campers can enjoy every part of camp, including the time spent on the bus.
