Trailside Nature & Science Center Camps & Workshops

Trailside Nature & Science Center Camps & Workshops take place at Union County’s Environmental Education Center and use the Center’s interactive, state-of-the art exhibits and facilities. The program is based in a building that includes 4,500 square feet of exhibits such as a towering 34-foot American beech tree exhibit that fills the atrium, along with classrooms, a multipurpose room, a library, a children’s discovery room, and a 250-seat auditorium. The camps and workshops are part of the offerings at Trailside Nature & Science Center, which focuses on environmental education.

Trailside Nature & Science Center is Union County’s Environmental Education Center and was renovated in September 2006. The Department of Parks and Recreation, which includes this program, received a 2021 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award for the program “Bringing Nature and History to the Homebound and Disabled.” Union County was one of only three counties in New Jersey to receive a NACo award in 2021.
