The Growing Stage – The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey offers a range of activities including Main Stage Performances, Studio Series Performances, a Spring Creative Arts Academy, a New Play-Reading Festival, and Music in Bloom - A Baroque Spring Concert for the Whole Family. In its 43 year history, The Growing Stage – The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey has given children quality arts education. The organization states that it strives to provide not just a moment, but a lasting memory for the entire family and is committed to creating an environment that is accessible by all. The Growing Stage Theatre for Young Audiences is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Seating is general admission except for season ticket holders and groups of 10 or more, and concessions are available for sale before performances and during intermission, with outside food and drink not allowed.

Main Stage Performances are normally on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m., with Friday performances offered on a limited basis at 7:30 p.m. Studio Series Performances are scheduled Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m., with seating beginning 30 minutes before each performance. The Spring Creative Arts Academy 6-week session begins in April, the Creative Arts Academy Winter 2026 10-week session begins in January, and the Creative Arts Academy Fall 2025 10-week session begins in October. Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Growing Stage offers Sensory Friendly, Sign-Interpreted, and Audio Described Performances, with wheelchair seating available for all performances and no limits to the number of patrons using wheelchairs. Large print and assisted listening devices are available at all performances, and a Quiet Room is available for all performances to accommodate individuals with Autism or developmental disabilities and the families and professionals who support them. Service animals are permitted in all unrestricted areas in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Growing Stage is a proud member of The New Jersey Theatre Alliance, which is dedicated to uniting, promoting, and cultivating New Jersey’s professional theaters, and it has a long-standing relationship with several not-for-profit service organizations in its region that specifically serve people with disabilities, including SCARC, SMILE of Hopatcong, and UCP of Morris/Somerset County. The theatre is described by NJ.com/The Star-Ledger as “the state's best children's theater,” and Mommyuniversitynj.com describes it as “a hidden gem in New Jersey.” Broadwayworld.com notes that “The Growing Stage is for children young and old,” and NJ.com/The Star-Ledger comments that there “aren't many opportunities where both adults and kids can build something remarkable and beautiful.” Playwright Anne Negri states that the theatre’s dedication to new play development is “rare and unique—unparalleled anywhere else in the country.”
