Play S.A.F.E. (Summer Activities For Everyone) includes activities such as gymnastics, fishing, and baseball games. The program also includes visits to the State Theater, NBPAC, the New Brunswick Water Treatment Plant, museums, Liberty Science Center, Sandy Hook State Park, and a USS Battleship. Each child in the program receives a daily free nutritious lunch provided through the federal Summer Food Service Program.

• Schedule: Play SAFE 2025 runs from June 30 to August 8, with daily hours from 10:00 AM to 3:45 PM.
The city’s free summer program, Play S.A.F.E. (Summer Activities For Everyone), is designed for children who are full-time New Brunswick residents. Play S.A.F.E. utilizes several sites across the city at various schools and parks. Enrollment is first come, first served, and registration closes on May 30, 2025. The link to register will be sent out as a TALKING POINT throughout the New Brunswick Public Schools, and a flyer will be sent home with students. Rutgers University and New Brunswick Municipal Alliance provide youth mentorship programs that focus on mental health and learning to make good choices.
