About
British Swim School of North New Jersey offers swim lessons that include water acclimation, beginner and advanced water survival, and beginner and advanced stroke skills. • Ages: 0–18 years old
British Swim School was founded in Manchester, England in 1981, expanded to North America in 1991, and has been offering its instructional program for over 40 years, with lessons now offered in fitness centers, hotels, and community pools across the U.S. and Canada and at over 450 locations. The program uses a survival-first approach with gentle teaching methods, expert instructors, convenient locations, flexible lesson times, year-round enrollment, and a swim assessment to match each swimmer with the right program for their age and skill level. Its mission statement is: “British Swim School teaches more than strokes. We build skills that grow into safety, confidence, and resilience in and out of the pool.” British Swim School also has a Peppa Pig Partnership.
Parent feedback includes comments such as, “We tried other swim schools but nothing compares to the experience and results we’ve seen here” (Maya B.) and “They’ve helped my son build water confidence in a truly safe, supportive environment. The instruction is excellent. We’ve been blown away by the progress!” (Hudson P.). Other parents note that family members of different ages have all learned to swim and become comfortable in the water (Ravikant S.), that small class sizes and patient instructors give their children the support they need (Owen E. and Nainika C.), and that their child learned real water safety skills while developing a love for swimming (Liam S.). One parent describes the instructors as “amazing,” “engaging,” “gentle,” and “focused on safety,” and says their family looks forward to every lesson (Lainey T.).
