About
Lollipop Preschool & Day Camp includes activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, gymnastics, tumbling, singing, dancing, motor activities, reading, art, and music. Children are placed in groups based on their age in September, and classes group children into 4–5 month spans. The program includes a day camp for ages 3–7 years with a focus on swimming, arts & crafts, and outdoor activities on two equipped playgrounds.
• Ages: 2–7 years old
• Schedule: Morning, afternoon, full-day, and extended-hour options
Lollipop Preschool & Day Camp offers morning hours from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, afternoon hours from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM, full-day hours from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and extended hours from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. The school follows an elementary school format for child development that includes educational, physical, social, and emotional aspects. Teachers provide individualized attention, catering to each child’s needs and abilities, and many teachers have been with the school for over 10–15 years.
The secure school building is fully enclosed and steel built, with connected cameras. There are 7 classrooms, each designed for a specific age range and learning style, and each group has automatic sinks and children’s bathrooms inside the classroom. The facility includes custom-designed castles and pirate ships, an additional grass-covered area for supervised outdoor play, and a large mirrored indoor space used for gymnastics, tumbling, singing, dancing, and motor activities. Children meet with a reading teacher for individualized instruction in a dedicated reading room, and the art room incorporates colors, activities, literature, and science.
Lollipop School is a family-owned and operated preschool and day camp that has served Bergen County families for over 67 years, beginning in 1959 when a school teacher founded the program. The program is now led by the founder’s son, James Angelillo, along with his wife Kara and his daughter Lorraine, and Mr. Jim serves as the owner and director. All teachers have four-year college degrees with certifications in Elementary Education. The school has an open door policy in which parents are welcome to visit unannounced at any time and observe on video cameras, and it is described as top rated.
Parent feedback includes a 2024 testimonial from Danielle G. describing Lollipop as “the most incredible preschool and summer camp there is for 2.5–6 years old” and noting that three children attended the full-day program and summer camp from age 2.5 to 5. In 2021, Hana M. stated that “this is one of the best programs around” and noted that Mr. Jim is very conscientious of every student’s needs. In 2023, Joseph C. described Lollipop as an “outstanding nursery and pre-k school” and stated that two children attended and received “top notch care.”
