Soli Deo Arts

Soli Deo Arts offers art classes, workshops, and summer art camps that include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, clay, and making puppets. The program includes summer art camps for kids and teens and provides art experiences in a small-group setting with two artists, Jim and Ruth Cottingham, teaching all workshops, classes, and sessions.

Soli Deo Arts was created and founded by Jim and Ruth Cottingham, who both have degrees in Art Education and have taught art for many years. Ruth and Jim are both artists exhibiting their art in various gallery shows, and their work is available for display and sale or as commissioned pieces, with Jim especially enjoying painting classic cars for car enthusiasts. Soli Deo Arts states a vision to encourage children, teens, and adults in their God-given creativity by offering fun and creative art experiences.

Parents and students have shared that children have enjoyed summer art camp and weekly art classes, and some families have continued into fall classes after camp. Several testimonials describe students studying with Jim and Ruth for years, noting growth in art skills, learning new techniques and art terms, and preparing portfolios for programs such as a medical illustration program at RIT and National Portfolio Day.
