Wish Upon a Jar Art Programs is run by Matt and Laurelyn, with Laurelyn having owned and operated Wish Upon a Jar since the summer of 2018, assisted by a small team of employees. The mission of Wish Upon a Jar states that everyone is considered an artist, the goal is for guests to enjoy themselves, and the studio aims to make everyone feel welcome and respected while making a positive difference in the community as a small business. The studio is an approved vendor through NJ DDD services and offers a calm, safe, zero-judgement environment with adaptive brushes available, private parties for all ages, off-site services, and to-go kits for at-home painting, with all inventory available for take-home kits. Guests can walk in and paint projects off the shelves during open hours, pottery wheels are available only through scheduled classes, and finished ceramic pieces are typically ready in 8 days, clay and wheel pieces can take up to 14 days, canvas projects go home the same day, fired pieces are held for 45 days, and fired pieces are fully food-safe and usable.

Reviewers describe the space as cute, note that the staff are kind, patient, helpful, and friendly, and mention enjoying birthday celebrations and special gifts created there. Reviewers also state that the environment is welcoming, that they plan to recommend the studio to friends and family, and that it has been a pleasure spending time there. Wish Upon a Jar Art Programs donates to local schools, animal rescues, and nonprofits, hosts many fundraising events and programs, has done fundraisers for local schools, animal shelters and rescues, wildlife organizations, LGBTQ groups, and individual community members, collaborates with Clarizio Music and other local businesses, and works with many local Girl Scout troops.
