Since 1956, YMCA Camp Bernie has been a place where people of all ages come together to connect, grow, and thrive. Guided by the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility, the program states that it creates an environment that encourages exploration, resilience, inclusion, and authentic connection. YMCA Camp Bernie operates as a year-round outdoor education and retreat center and is a non-profit, charitable organization.

One parent shared that “Camp Bernie is an awesome place where children go to have a great time. The counselors make each child feel special. They experience new things, learn about nature and make new friends. There is always something new to try or someone new to get to know. Year after year it is where they go to meet up with their friends.” Another parent described it as “a great Traditional Summer Camp” and noted that their child did not ask for a phone after a week away and was excited to talk about the activities. A third parent called YMCA Camp Bernie “a hidden gem in the world of New Jersey summer camps” and described it as a community where kids are “seen, supported, and celebrated for exactly who they are,” expressing gratitude for the staff and the experience their child had.
