SFL Club offers soccer activities that include regular soccer training, High School Boys Tryouts, the SFL Future Stars Program, and a club-wide Soccer Gear Donation Drive. The club organizes boys and girls teams from U7 through U19 to compete in recognized and competitive leagues and tournaments throughout the state and region.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: High School Boys Tryouts on Wednesday April 15, Friday April 17, and Wednesday April 22 from 8:00pm to 9:15pm
• Price: SFL Future Stars Program (U6 & U7) is completely free for all players; no cost
SFL Club describes itself as a player-first soccer club for families who value development, culture, and community. The SFL Future Stars Program is a free U6 and U7 program for 2019 and 2020 birth years. All SFL coaches are professionally trained and certified, and they originate from various parts of the world while following SFL training methods. The club lists core values of Respect, Dedication, Ownership, and Dignity.
The leadership team includes Coach Luca as Goalkeeping Coach, Coach Manny who leads the club-wide Soccer Gear Donation Drive, Coach Elliot who is both an SFL coach and Assistant Coach for the Wagner College Women’s Soccer program at the NCAA Division I level, and Coach Sammy who works on transition with the 2009 Boys. Coach Luca has competed at NCAA Division I and Division III levels with FDU Teaneck and William Paterson University, is currently an All-Conference player at William Paterson University, has experience playing at USSDA and MLS NEXT levels and in USL 2, and has worked as an assistant coach at STA. Coach Elliot has been appointed Assistant Coach for the Wagner College Women’s Soccer program, which competes at the NCAA Division I level.
SFL Club states that it is dedicated to developing players, character building, and instilling positive teamwork habits. The club runs a Soccer Gear Donation Drive in support of the Red Cross Foundation in Spain, collecting gently used cleats, shin guards, jerseys, soccer balls, and other soccer-related equipment. Donation items can be handed directly to Coach Manny, passed to a team coach, or dropped in bins at Coursen and Kacur on SFL practice days. The club is described as being built on community.
