Somerville YMCA Camp Sunburst offers a traditional multi-activity camp and specialty camp options that include arts, STEM, gymnastics, sports, theme days, daily performances, and an educational portion to the camp day. Campers take part in daily swim lessons and daily recreational swim time in an indoor pool, as well as weekly camp trips that use group transportation for most destinations. Activities also include team building, Arts & Humanities, Sports & Games, CATCH Games, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities, Science & Nature, Brain Games, and counselor-in-training (CIT)–run games or activities.

Camp Sunburst includes KinderCamp, an indoor/outdoor multi-activity traditional camp for children entering Kindergarten in September 2026, where campers have daily swim lessons and free swim at no additional cost and an educational portion focused on grade level-appropriate critical thinking skills. Traditional Multi-Activity Camp is for campers entering grades 1–7 in September 2026 and is an outdoor multi-activity camp that also includes daily swim lessons, daily recreational swim time at no additional cost, and an educational portion with grade level-appropriate critical thinking activities, with campers divided into groups for age-appropriate activities. Weekly trip options for Traditional Camp are optional, require a signed permission slip for each camper and each trip, are offered for an additional fee, and include sample destinations such as Branchburg Sports Complex, Liberty Science Center, Turtleback Zoo, Tomahawk Lake, Yestercades, Legoland Discovery & Sea Life, Iron Peak, Monster Mini Golf, and Hannover Lanes, with campers wearing designated camp t-shirts on trip days and non-participating campers staying at the Y for a full day of Traditional Camp programming. Sample weekly themes include Camp Olympics, Science in Action, Jungle Journey, Adventure on the Water, Once Upon a Summer, Pirates of the Sea, Heroes VS Villains, Rodeo Round-Up, Grease Lightning, and Sweet Summer Send-Off, and children are asked to bring a bathing suit and towel each day.
