The UCMAS Abacus Math Program is led in the USA and Canada by Megha Karia, CEO (UCMAS USA & Canada). UCMAS (Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System) is an ISO 9001:2008 certified course. The first UCMAS center opened in 1993 in Malaysia, and UCMAS was established in the USA in 2004. It is described as the world’s leading Abacus Math Program and a globally recognized and scientifically proven child development program based on Mental Math and Abacus for children aged 5–13 years. The program incorporates and enhances auditory, visual, and kinesthetic/tactile learning styles and focuses on developing mental arithmetic ability and speedy calculation. It combines the Abacus with modern instructional expertise and uses a time-tested curriculum built on years of global experience and results. UCMAS operates in more than 80 countries, with over 3 million students trained and more than 6,000 centers worldwide, and UCMAS USA is described as a leading pioneer of Abacus and Mental Math programs in the USA. UCMAS states that its mission is to promote more engaging and active brain fitness for children by enriching visual learning in a precise and disciplined manner, and to grow its business with a mission to provide ongoing satisfaction to franchisees, course instructors, and clients by shaping a child’s future in a positive and engaging way.

Parent testimonials report that children in UCMAS have developed mental math skills, including entry-level arithmetic such as addition and subtraction and multiplication times tables up to 10, and that some of this math is not being taught in their regular school curriculum. Parents also report that their children can quickly calculate numbers before adults can open calculators on their phones, that their children’s concentration and listening skills have improved, and that their children are more confident and enjoy solving math problems. Multiple parents mention appreciation for UCMAS teachers and management, including specific praise for instructors such as Ms. Minal and Ms. Saswati, and express positive views about their children’s experiences in the program.
