Summer Hill Day Camp includes daily swim lessons, Nature and Science activities, and science experiments. Campers take part in cooking activities, gardening, and nature walks, as well as Arts & Crafts such as coloring, watercolors, painting, beadwork, and tie-dying. The program also offers dance, parachute play, and musical chairs, and has two heated pools on the premises, with swim lessons included in camp tuition.

Summer Hill Day Camp has been family owned and operated by the Cheney family since 1981 and has been in operation for over 40 years. The founding owners are Peter Cheney and Pat Love, and the camp is now under the direction of their son Patrick Cheney and his wife, Lauren, who are co-owners. Water Safety Instructors on staff lead the daily swim lesson for each group, and lifeguards are certified through American Red Cross Training. Co-founder Pat Love is a registered nurse with an M.A. in psychology and doctoral study in child clinical psychology, and Peter Cheney is a physical education teacher and Shore area swim coach. The mission of Summer Hill Day Camp is providing a fun and safe environment for kids to spend their summer, while continuing to grow and evolve its programs and curricula to reflect the skill sets and competencies that children need in the 21st century. Co-owners Patrick and Lauren Cheney state that they feel honored to build on the history and success of Summer Hill and to continue a family tradition of helping children learn, grow, laugh, and reach their full potential. The camp notes that it is now enrolling for the 2026 camp season, with spaces limited, and also offers the option to host a child’s birthday party at Summer Hill.
