YMCA Camp Zehnder offers activities such as hiking, swimming, zipline, fishing, archery, arts and crafts, use of a playground and gaga pits, and exploration of dedicated Nature and Art buildings. Campers can identify plants and animal tracks, learn trail safety and camping essentials, cook some meals over the campfire, and learn about backpack snacks. Specialty options include Wilderness Discovery, archery with longbow, recurve, and compound bows and target games, ropes course, boating, and art projects using clay, paint, pastel, charcoal, pencil, jewelry design, leatherworking, and weaving.

• Schedule: Camp Zehnder runs June 22–August 28, 2026, with general camp hours from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., optional Before Care from 7:30–9:00 a.m., After Care from 4:00–6:00 p.m., and the Role Model In Training (RMIT) Program offered in two 4-week sessions.
• Price: Weekly camp rates range from $380–$465 for school-age campers, $405–$465 for preschool campers, and $230–$260 for RMIT, with additional fees for Before Care, After Care, specialty camps, and birthday parties.
Counselors receive extensive training in a variety of topics before each camp season and are First Aid and CPR certified, and the facility has certified swim instructors and lifeguards. Campers participate in activities with staff who model the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The Role Model In Training (RMIT) Program for ages 14–15 is a career development program with interactive workshops, mentorship opportunities, and projects, and RMIT participants are under the guidance of an RMIT instructor. Camp Zehnder is an ACA Accredited summer camp, uses CampDoc as a secure web-based system to manage health forms, allergies, medications, and illness or injury tracking, and is described as an allergy-aware facility with a low camper-to-counselor ratio. The Camp Director is Karen Little.
The YMCA of the Jersey Shore’s roots began in 1874 in Red Bank and, after 145 years, it is described as a cause-driven organization. Its mission states that it focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and that it puts Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. In the last five years, the YMCA of the Jersey Shore reports providing $5 million in financial assistance and program subsidies, serving more than 60,000 neighbors through memberships, engaging over 650 volunteers, nurturing more than 3,400 children daily in care programs, having over 1,500 children participate in summer camp and outdoor experiences, and teaching more than 6,100 children to swim.
Camp Zehnder also offers birthday parties with Science or Art Party themes (90 minutes) and Pool Party options (120 minutes), including program staff support, tables and chairs with basic coverings, full setup and cleanup, and lifeguard(s) for pool parties. Parents are required to complete CampDoc forms for each child attending summer camp, and after registration they receive an email from CampDoc to create their camper’s Health Profile.
