About
Woodland Park Recreation Programs and Summer Camp offers activities that include baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, flag football, cheerleading, and a Summer Camp. The Recreation Department also offers access to a Spray Park with seasonal hours and daily admission.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Regular office hours run Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with summer office hours Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM and closed on Fridays in July and August. The Spray Park operates seasonally from June 29 to August 30, 2026, with afternoon and weekend hours that vary before and after August 15.
• Price: Woodland Park Spray Park daily admission is $5 per child (cash only), and the Recreation Department’s Summer Camp is funded entirely through camp registrations.
The Recreation Department coordinates programs and events under the guidance of the Recreation and Community Relations Committee, which oversees the Borough’s Panther youth sports programs for children in grades K–8. Programs and events are funded through the municipal budget, with additional support from donations by local businesses, and teams compete with neighboring towns such as Little Falls and Totowa. Volunteer coaches are needed for these youth programs, and registration for recreation events, programs, and Summer Camp is available on CommunityPass.
The Recreation Department also runs Before School and After School Care programs in all four of the Borough’s public schools. The Woodland Park Spray Park requires that children be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times, and weather-related closures are decided by the park attendant on duty.
The leadership team includes Tracy Kallert, Mayor; Jason Hersh, Recreation Director; Kelly Spinalli, Special Events & Senior Services Coordinator; Katie Peterson, Recreation Leader; Vincent DeCesare, Borough Council Committee Chair; Tina Gatti, Borough Council Committee member; Edwin Figueroa, Borough Council Committee member; Louisa Guzman, Before/Aftercare Director; Maryrose Scarpa, Before/Aftercare Assistant Director; and Kelsey Marren, Summer Camp Director. West Paterson’s name was changed to the Borough of Woodland Park, effective January 1, 2009.
