The ARK Literacy Program offers one-on-one after school tutoring and mentoring to build core skills in reading, writing, and math. The program also includes homework completion support as part of its after school tutoring. ARK literacy tutoring will be on hold until further notice.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Free after school tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm–5:30pm
• Price: Free after school tutoring.
In 2014, Frank and Linda Holland started South Gate Learning and Resource Center. The ARK Literacy Program is part of this center’s efforts to equip families to overcome their current challenges and live healthy, productive lives. The broader South Gate team also runs the “Feed Vegas” program, which partners with local grocery stores and Three Square to provide food to about 2,500 families per month and has donated over one million pounds of food to the Las Vegas community in one year. The organization offers a food pantry with drive-thru pickup on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a free farmers’ market on the last Saturday of each month, and provides clothing to low income families, support for senior citizens, and essential needs for the Christmas and Thanksgiving seasons.
