For over 60 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada have responded to the needs of young people. The mission of the organization is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. With 13 Clubs across Southern Nevada, the organization describes each Club as a potential “home away from home.” The program notes that attending summer camp allows youth to create lasting memories, foster new friendships, and acquire experiences that can build social-emotional skills that empower them to overcome life challenges. It also states that through engaging activities, team-building exercises, and exposure to new experiences, youth gain confidence, independence, and a sense of community. The program explains that donations are combined to ensure Southern Nevada youth experience camp regardless of their family’s ability to pay, and that camp can unlock possibilities to grow, learn, and explore activities not experienced at home or school.
