The Nevada Diabetes Association says it has spent over 30 years redefining the diabetes experience. Its mission is to have a program or service for anyone affected by diabetes in the community, and it says its purpose is to redefine the diabetes experience and empower individuals to live longer, healthier lives by redefining the diabetes journey. The organization says it provides camps, support groups, educational programs, resources, seminars, workshops, printed materials, electronic resources, emergency diabetes medical assistance, and advocacy for people affected by diabetes in the Greater Nevada and Northern California area.

Camp Vegas and Camp Buck each state that anyone can attend if they can get to camp. Camp Vegas says no camper will ever be denied camp for financial reasons and scholarships and payment assistance plans are available. Campers are cared for by licensed medical staff, licensed dietary staff, and trained clinical counselors. Campers do not dose or administer insulin themselves without medical staff.
