About

Nike Basketball Camp Bishop Gorman High School offers basketball training that includes shooting accuracy, ball-handling, and team play skills. Campers also take part in off-court discussions that focus on improving basketball IQ and their on-court game. All summer campers receive a Nike Basketball Camp t-shirt and other prizes, and basketballs are provided for instruction during camp.

• Schedule: Spring Clinic runs March 7–9 with a 3-day format, and Summer Complete Skills sessions run Monday–Friday in June with 5-day sessions.

The program offers a Spring Co-Ed Clinic from March 7–9, with check-in on Friday at 4:30pm, daily hours of Friday 5pm–8pm, Saturday 9am–3pm, and Sunday 9am–12pm, and a closing ceremony on Sunday at 11:30am. Summer Complete Skills sessions include Girls Complete Skills June 2–6, Boys Complete Skills I June 9–13, and Boys Complete Skills II June 16–20, with check-in on Monday at 8:30am, daily hours Monday–Thursday 9am–3pm and Friday 9am–12pm, and a closing ceremony on Friday at 11:30am. Camps are held on indoor courts, and most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience at the director’s discretion, and the stated staff-to-camper ratio is 1:10.

Training is led by Grant Rice, the head basketball coach and Athletic Director at Bishop Gorman High School, along with Bishop Gorman staff. Grant Rice has been head basketball coach since 2001, has guided the Gaels to 12 Nevada State Championships, and earned his 500th career victory as head coach in 2020. He also served a four-year term on the NFHS Basketball Rules Committee from 2015–2018 and is Co-Director of the Annual Tarkanian Classic Basketball Tournament and the Big Time AAU event. Mike Wright, the Varsity Men’s Basketball Associate Head Coach and a 1991 Bishop Gorman graduate, has coached for 25 years at Bishop Gorman, is entering his 15th year in his current role, and has more than 25 state titles as a coach and player in football, basketball, and track. Bjorn Berg, Camp Co-Director, is entering his 15th season as an assistant high school varsity basketball coach in Las Vegas and is a former college basketball player.

The Complete Skills Camp is described as helping players of all abilities develop athletically, refine fundamental basketball skills, and enhance their skill set at the post, wing, or guard position. Campers also work on skills and learn about leadership, confidence, and teamwork, and they participate in off-court discussions to improve basketball IQ and on-court game. Camps are offered in Spring and Summer of 2025 for boys and girls, and training is with the 2024 and 2025 state champion Head Men’s Coach, Grant Rice, and the Bishop Gorman staff.

Meals are not provided for the Spring Clinic or Summer Complete Skills sessions, and families are asked to send a sack lunch each day for summer camps. Suggested items to bring include athletic on-court clothing, athletic shoes, a water bottle, a packed lunch and snacks, and a small gym bag or backpack. It is not recommended that campers bring their own basketballs, and US Sports Camps is not responsible for lost or stolen articles or money. Nike All Court Elite Basketballs can be purchased during registration for $35, with a choice of size 6 (28.5") or size 7 (29.5"). A team discount is available for groups of 5 or more and 10 or more campers registering for the same camp.
