Camp Director Andy Jackson is the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at UNLV and was named to that role on July 14, 2023, by Director of Athletics Erick Harper. He has led three different Southeastern Conference schools to multiple conference championships and deep NCAA Tournament runs, coached multiple individuals to national championships and numerous honors, and is the only coach in collegiate men’s tennis history to reach the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament at two schools (Florida and Mississippi State). He is also the only coach in SEC history to win the regular-season league title at two schools as well as the conference tournament title at two stops, holds a career record of 615-352 (.636) with three NCAA Semifinal appearances, seven NCAA Quarterfinal showings, 20 NCAA Round of 16 appearances, 25 NCAA Invitations and 25 Top 25 final national rankings, and is a three-time SEC Coach of the Year, two-time ITA Coach of the Year and a USTA Coach of the Year. His background includes maintaining an ATP Tour World Ranking, lettering twice at Kentucky while playing No. 2 in singles and doubles, serving as team captain on Kentucky’s 1984 NIT championship squad, and induction into the UK Tennis Hall of Fame in 2008, along with head coaching roles at Mississippi State, the University of Florida, and Arkansas.
Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camps states that learning is organized, fun is emphasized and safety is prioritized, with safety prioritized on and off court and over tennis and activities when necessary. Full day campers have recreational swimming daily in an indoor pool with a lifeguard present, and there is a camp demo program with the latest Wilson rackets plus a Wilson raffle and prizes for all campers. No meals are provided and full day campers must pack a lunch.
Day campers are asked to bring a tennis racket, tennis shoes, sunscreen, hat or visor, water bottle, and signed medical and liability forms if not completed online. For recreational swimming, campers should bring a towel and swimsuit, and each camper must have a completed and signed medical form at check-in on the first day of camp, with no physical exam required. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports Camps and its coaches and universities state that they are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.
Parent testimonials describe campers learning a lot and having fun, camps being organized, staff being professional and helpful, and instructors being attentive and providing individual feedback with a deliberate focus each session. Parents also report that campers enjoyed swimming as a bonus, that beginners learned quite a lot, that some campers chose this camp over other camps, and that coaches were engaging and taught skills that could be used to improve tennis.
