Maplewood Children’s Riding Camps includes riding along with learning to groom and tack up horses. Campers also spend time learning about horse care, anatomy, equine behavior, tack, and equipment, and they take part in arts and crafts projects and games. Maplewood’s Summer Camps include many fun activities in addition to plenty of riding time, and lessons are split into groups so riders from beginners to more advanced ride with campers of similar ability.

• Ages: 6–15 years old
• Schedule: Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Summer Session 1 is July 7–11, 2026, and Summer Session 2 is August 4–8, 2026
• Price: Camp cost is $750 per session; a non-refundable deposit of $250 must be received before space will be reserved; Children's Summer Camp Session 1 Deposit $259.00; Children's Summer Camp Session 2 Deposit $259.00; Children's Summer Camp Session 1 Pay in Full $774.00; Children's Summer Camp Session 2 Pay in Full $774.00

Maplewood was established in 1977 as a complete horse breeding, training, show stable and sales business and is described as the premier equestrian center in Nevada and the surrounding area. The leadership team includes Maplewood CEO and head trainer and owner/operator Julie Winkel, assistant trainer Elle Mullendore, and head trainer/rider at KW Showjumping Kevin Winkel. Julie, Maplewood's owner/operator, is a nationally renowned rider, trainer, judge, clinician, educator and author, and she received the CPHA Lifetime Achievement Award. Elle graduated from the two-year Maplewood Stables Horse Industry Training Program in 2022. Kevin is a top West Coast show jumper who specializes in training and showing young horses from the ground up to the Grand Prix level and has shown Maplewood's stallions Cartouche Z and Osilvis to Grand Prix wins and is now doing the same with their offspring. Campers are required to bring boots with heels, water, sunscreen and a packed lunch each day, and for Spring and Holiday Camps they are encouraged to dress in layers and bring a coat or jacket, gloves and hat, weather permitting.
