Lightbridge Academy of Baldwin, NY is part of Lightbridge Academy’s network of educational child care centers that have been operating since 1997. The program describes its Mission as: “Illuminate young minds while helping everyone in our Circle of Care along life’s journey.” It features The Solution for Working Families and a Circle of Care community approach, along with ongoing enrollment as long as space is available, most programs available from 2 to 5 days per week, back-up care on a daily and space-available basis, a Parent eCommunication app with ongoing and daily reports, and Parent Teacher conferences held twice a year. The Lightbridge Promise is described as the child care industry’s Gold Standard for cleanliness, security, and peace of mind, and the center receives regular unannounced inspections from a quality assurance team in addition to state licensing inspections.

The leadership team includes franchise owner Wendy Sylvester; Center Director Ms. Debbie Kornreich-Lapp; Administrative Assistant Joanne Williams; and Chief Executive Officer Gigi Schweikert. Ms. Debbie Kornreich-Lapp has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from CW Post – Long Island University and over 25 years of experience in the child care field. Joanne Williams has taught for over twenty years and earned her degree at St. John’s University. Every staff member must obtain an active CPR and first aid certification, meet or exceed state-mandated educational requirements, and pass thorough background checks.

Administrative Assistant Joanne Williams has been a member of the Baldwin community for fourteen years and is actively involved on the board of PTA in the Baldwin School District. The program states that its relationships extend beyond the four walls of its child care centers through supportive partnerships and participation within the communities it serves, and that its goal is to be a valuable asset to every community. One parent, Valerie, states, “My husband and I work long hours and finding the right fit was so important to us! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt the warmth and sensed something special.”
