About the provider

New York Junior Tennis & Learning was founded in 1971 and has been serving young people for over 50 years. Its mission is to develop the character of young people through tennis and education for a lifetime of success on and off the court. The organization is the largest nonprofit youth tennis and education program in the nation and one of the largest providers of after school programs in New York City.

No application required. No one is turned way or wait-listed. Attendance always optional. Not a drop-off program. We strongly recommend not leaving kids under the age of 10 alone. All tennis activities are outdoors except winter. Classes may be cancelled due to wet and slippery courts. Sites are open weather permitting. Registration is online only for Community Tennis Program; registration must be done for each individual child for each site they attend. Children can register and attend multiple locations.

What families say

“Through tennis, lives can be changed and spirits reclaimed.” — Arthur Ashe

“Our idea is to use tennis as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people in the inner cities and other poor environments so that we can teach them about matters more important than tennis.” — Arthur Ashe
