Pelham Bay Little League & Softball has been serving the community since 1954, and the upcoming year will commemorate the league's 70th anniversary. The league was once a place where only boys were allowed to play; today it is the girls' softball teams that have kept the league alive. The program offers divisions including T-Ball (ages 4–6), 8U (ages 7–8), 10U (ages 9–10), 12U (ages 11–12), and a High School Division (ages 13–18). The T-Ball division plays scheduled games only with no playoffs, while 8U and older divisions include both games and playoffs, and if playoff games begin in the spring and continue into the summer, those games count toward the team’s seasonal total of 20 meetings.
Pelham Bay Little League states that it is committed to making baseball and softball affordable for every family and offers multiple ways to save on registration, many of which can be combined. All seasonal dues must be paid in full before a player can participate in games or practices, with payment deadlines of April 1 for the spring season, July 1 for the summer season, September 1 for the fall season, and December 1 for winter clinics. Spaces are limited, and registration is handled on a first come, first serve basis.
The league provides a comprehensive equipment guide for every player in T-ball, baseball, or softball. Volunteers are needed to be positive role models, and sponsorships directly impact the lives of children in the community by providing opportunities to be active, learn, grow, and succeed. Pelham Bay Little League describes itself as a cornerstone of the community since 1954, bringing families and neighbors together through a shared passion for baseball and softball and emphasizing friendship, family, and fitness in its mission statement.
