(Developing Responsible, Excellent, and Awesome Minds) within Children of Promise, NYC provides one-to-one mentoring to children of incarcerated parents.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm

In 2009, Children of Promise, NYC was founded as the first and only after-school program and summer day camp in New York City specifically designed to meet the needs, interests, and concerns of children left behind by a parent serving time in prison. The organization’s mission is to disrupt intergenerational cycles of trauma and poverty by delivering educational support, mental health care, youth advocacy, and family stabilization programs. Children of Promise, NYC serves Black, Indigenous, and people of color ages 6–18 who are facing the adverse childhood experience of parental incarceration, and currently 100% of the children and families served are BIPOC, with the vast majority living at or below the poverty line.

Children of Promise, NYC is a community-centered organization that partners with children and families impacted by mass incarceration to address stigma and trauma in Black and Brown communities. The program provides on-site help five days a week from a team of psychiatrists, social workers, and creative arts therapists. With locations in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn and the South Bronx, Children of Promise, NYC offers an integrative approach to mental health and out-of-school time services in these neighborhoods.
