Street Soccer USA was founded in 2009. The mission of Street Soccer USA is to fight poverty and strengthen communities through soccer. The Oakland programs are led by Emmanuel Sanchez, who serves as the Oakland Program Manager.

Street Soccer USA partners with schools to bring programs to kids at school and on the playground, with current school partners including Cox Academy, Markham Elementary, EBIA, Greenleaf, Life Academy, Bunche High, Street Academy, and Lincoln High. Community Clubs take place at San Antonio Park in partnership with Trybe and at Harbor House. Street Soccer USA provides programming to youth ages 4 and up, including homeless families, adults, and people in recovery.

Street Soccer USA focuses efforts on neighborhoods where 33% of residents live below the poverty line and where graduation rates are between 55–65%. The organization aims to provide an alternative to the pay-to-play model of youth soccer in the United States for the 11 million youth living at or below the poverty line, with a focus on social impact. Street Soccer USA is a national non-profit organization in 16 cities, helping over 75,000 players in some of the country’s most-challenged neighborhoods.

Street Soccer USA has received the ESPN Sport Humanitarian Award and NYU Sport & Business Society’s Philanthropy Award. It is the official and exclusive U.S. partner of the Homeless World Cup and the Street Child World Cup, and it is the inventor of the Blue Card™.
