About
KidStrong is a kids training program where children take part in obstacle courses, tug of war, tire flips, puzzles, games, and mental challenges. Classes follow a structured format that includes an affirmation, social greeting, foundations, milestone, move & learn, performance, competition, and an award ceremony. Parents join their child on the floor during class for kids under 4 years old.
• Ages: 1–11 years old
• Schedule: Membership includes one 45-minute class per week; each class is 45 minutes.
KidStrong describes its centers as clean and modern and its program as parent-focused, with connected families and parents brought into the action. Classes are described as 45-minute, age-appropriate, structured sessions that are developmentally appropriate, fun, and challenging, and that use science-based fitness games and games designed to improve creativity, mental development, and problem-solving skills. Programming focuses on three pillars—Character, Physical, and Cognitive—and follows a Whole Child Philosophy with three pillars: Strong Character, Strong Body, and Strong Mind. The KidStrong affirmation used in class is, “I am strong, I am brave, I can do this!”
KidStrong states that its programming promotes balance, coordination, strength, agility, and skills like teamwork, mental toughness, and sportsmanship. The program is described as science-based and guided by child development experts, child development scientists, and coaches. KidStrong notes that it does not provide medical services, does not accept insurance, and cannot guarantee that a child will learn how to fly.
Coaches are described as highly trained, certified, and professional, and as specially trained, compassionate leaders. Programming is designed and guided by a team that includes a Preschool & Kindergarten Director, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and an MD Family Physician and 4x CrossFit Games Competitor. The leadership and expert team includes founders Matt and Megin Sharp; Morgan Johnson (Sr. Manager, Training & Certification); Ramon Williams (Senior Programming Specialist); Randy Nguyen (Programming Specialist); Patti Eubanks (Preschool & Kindergarten Director); Patrick Ford (Doctor of Physical Therapy); and Dr. Julie Foucher (MD, Family Physician, 4x CrossFit Games Competitor).
KidStrong was founded in 2015 and has grown to more than 160 locations serving more than 65,000 kids per week. KidStrong notes that it celebrated its 100th center opening with franchisee Barb Volk in Plantation, Florida. In addition to weekly classes, KidStrong offers Camps and KidStrong Camp, and some centers run KidStrong Academy.
KidStrong describes its mission as building strong, confident, high-character kids and helping kids win at life by developing a strong body, mind, and character through weekly 45-minute classes led by expert coaches. The program states that everything it does is based on the Whole Child Philosophy and that focusing on the whole child gives kids a foundation to become well-rounded, confident kids. KidStrong also states that it builds happier, more confident kids.
Parent testimonials describe a range of experiences. One parent from KidStrong Crestview Hills reports that the program taught her child how to participate, listen, be a good teammate, and practice patience after other sports programs and clubs had not been successful. A parent from KidStrong Mandeville shares that her daughter has been attending since July 2022 and is more brave doing things that others her age might be scared to do. A parent from KidStrong Prosper notes that her child started at 16 months old and, after about four months, went from being very shy and reserved to having a lot of fun and fully joining in activities, and mentions that KidStrong is the family’s favorite part of each week. Other parents from locations including Waldwick (NJ), Prairieville (LA), Rocklin (CA), Noblesville (IN), and San Antonio (TX) describe their children coming out of their shells, becoming less shy, and increasing effort in learning tasks such as words, cooking, and cleaning.
