• Ages: 0–18 years old
• Schedule: The library is open Monday–Thursday 9:00am–9:00pm, Friday and Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm, and Sunday (October–April) 1:00pm–5:00pm, with youth-related events such as 30-minute storytimes and 1–2 hour activity sessions.

The Central Islip Public Library was founded in 1952, and a new library building was opened to the public on March 15, 1976. The library’s mission states that it continues to adapt and grow by integrating technology and new collections, and fostering community engagement, with excellent patron service at the core of this mission. The library serves nearly 40,000 residents within the boundaries of the Central Islip School District and has spaces for local community groups to meet, along with workshops, literacy programs, and cultural activities. The library is chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and has embraced digital technologies by providing access to databases, e-books, audiobooks, and digital media. All children’s programs have a limited number of spots, use waitlists when full, and ask registered families who cannot attend to contact the Children’s Department to cancel, and Library Board meetings are open to the public.
