About

Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks is a Christian summer camp for girls that centers its program on a rustic wilderness camp experience and activities that encourage girls to spend time outside. Program elements include quiet time, cabin Bible study, devotions, prayer, and reflection, and campers are guided to study, memorize, and apply Biblical principles to their daily lives. Activities are described as challenging and skill-building, helping girls gain confidence, competence, courage, perseverance, self-respect, and leadership skills, while they develop a sense of responsibility as environmental stewards and learn to care for the outdoors responsibly.

Since 1965, Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks, formerly known as Camp Cherith, has operated as a Christian summer camp for girls. The camp’s mission states that Cedarbrook exists to transform the lives of young women for Jesus through a wilderness camp experience that engages them in Christian community, challenges them to build new skills, and invites them to enjoy the great outdoors. The program focuses on inspiring girls to live Christ-centered lives and uses the 4 Arrows—Inward, Outward, Downward, and Upward—to represent well-rounded growth, including building friendships in Christian community, gaining new skills and discovering strengths, growing in faith and discovering who they are in Christ, and experiencing the beauty of God’s creation.

Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks recruits committed Christian women who love God and enjoy working with children, and each counselor is described as devoted to nurturing campers’ faith in Christ, building their skills, and guiding their friendships. Staff are described as committed to Christ and to the camper’s experience, and the camp creates opportunities for campers to build positive relationships grounded in Biblical principles.

Parent feedback includes comments that Cedarbrook is “a place that helps shape my girls into women who love God and love others,” and that campers “build confidence to try new things and talk to new people” and return with “a deeper appreciation and understanding of God’s Word” while having fun. Another parent described it as “the best thing I ever did,” saying that camp “fosters independence” and that their children “learn more about themselves and God.” In a 2024 Parent Survey, one parent stated “100% would recommend Camp Cedarbrook to a friend,” and survey results reported that 98.2% of parents were satisfied with their daughter’s camp experience, 87.5% of whom were extremely satisfied.
