About

Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks is a Christian summer camp for girls that operates as a rustic wilderness camp. Facilities and activities are described as encouraging girls to spend time outside. The program uses the “4 Arrows”—Inward, Outward, Downward, and Upward—to represent well-rounded growth, with an emphasis on Christian community, gaining new skills, and experiencing the beauty of God’s creation and environmental stewardship.

• Ages: 7–17 years old

Since 1965, Camp Cedarbrook (formerly Camp Cherith) has operated as a rustic wilderness camp. The camp’s mission states that Cedarbrook exists to transform the lives of young women for Jesus through a wilderness camp experience that engages them in Christian community, challenges them to build new skills, and invites them to enjoy the great outdoors.

Campers are guided to study, memorize, and apply Biblical principles through quiet time, cabin Bible study, devotions, prayer, and reflection. Activities are described as challenging and skill-building, aimed at developing confidence, competence, courage, perseverance, self-respect, and leadership skills. The camp also creates structured opportunities for campers to build positive relationships grounded in Biblical principles, including making new friends, respecting differences, taking responsibility, making choices, experiencing outcomes, and working as a team.

Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks recruits committed Christian women who love God and enjoy working with children. Each counselor is described as devoted to nurturing campers’ faith in Christ, building their skills, and guiding their friendships, and staff are described as committed to Christ and to the camper’s experience.

Parent feedback includes statements such as, “Cedarbrook is a place that helps shape my girls into women who love God and love others. They build confidence to try new things and talk to new people. They come back with a deeper appreciation and understanding of God's Word. And finally, they have FUN. They absolutely love their time there and cannot wait to return each summer. All year long they talk about their experiences at camp” and “It's the best thing I ever did. Camp fosters independence in my children, they try things they wouldn't otherwise, and learn more about themselves and God.” In a 2024 Parent Survey, one parent wrote, “100% would recommend Camp Cedarbrook to a friend!” and the survey reported that “98.2% of parents were satisfied with their daughter’s camp experience, 87.5% of which were extremely satisfied.”
