Junior Golf Program
Lake Isle Country Club, 660 White Plains Rd., Eastchester, NY 10709
About
The Junior Golf Program includes chipping, putting, short game practice, driving range time, and use of the Lake Isle golf course when available. Participants also do exercises, golf trivia, learn the rules and etiquette of golf, practice score keeping, and may watch golf educational content such as YouTube, golf current events, and golf trivia. During bad weather, activities can be held under a canopy or indoors, and in some cases up to approximately 25% of lesson time may be spent on classroom-style material.
• Ages: 7–16 years old
• Schedule: Summer camps run from June 1 to August 28 with weekly or daily options; sessions are 3 or 6 hours for ages 9–16 and 2 hours for ages 7–11, with additional Tuesday evening and Saturday afternoon sessions for ages 8–14. Programs run unless families are notified by text or email of a cancellation, and cancelled camps or groups can make up time in another group of the same or shorter length.
• Price: If registration occurs within 4 days of the next weekly camp start date there is a $25.00 late registration fee; payment reserves the spot and there are no refunds.
PGA interns working toward their PGA status typically run the summer camp programs, assisted by staff, and most of the staff are former participants in the programs and/or students of Kevin Chin. Kevin Chin is an award winning PGA Certified golf professional, was voted Best Golf Professional by the public, and received the 2019 PGA Deacon Palmer Award. Kevin Chin is also the site director for Girls Golf LPGA and is listed as the golf professional and instructor leading the program.
The stated mission for junior golf and the golf programs is to create a safe and fun learning environment for all ages, and through instruction, practice, and a variety of individual and team activities to enable and inspire students to reach their full potential as responsible, honest, and self-confident people. The program is open to the public, offers a Counselor in Training (CIT) Program for ages 13–16, and allows junior groups to combine or overlap with different age groups. Groups taught by Kevin Chin are for 2 to 4 students and run for longer periods than most other programs, and custom programs are available, including unique birthday experiences and custom golf programs for groups.
Families are encouraged to bring their own equipment, but equipment is available to borrow, and they are asked to label equipment and clothes with names. The Lake Isle dress code for this program is no jeans or T-shirts except in winter and no open-toed shoes. There is a snack bar that accepts cash and credit cards, transportation is not provided, and camp is held in light rain with participants instructed to dress appropriately. For winter classes, participants are asked to use the covered stairs instead of the hill and to keep cars out of the upper lot, and families are asked to inform the program about any medical issues, including allergies such as bees or peanuts. Rescheduling of a class or lesson can be done through the Client Portal (My Lessons), and if a participant misses on their own, no makeups or credit are given.
