Creative Environment Day School was founded in 1966 and is celebrating over 60 years of education as a family owned business. The day school program serves children 18 months to 4 years, and the before and after school program serves kindergarten to 4th grade students from all three Fayetteville-Manlius elementary schools. The eight week summer camp serves children 18 months to 10 years with daily activities such as arts and crafts, nature, daily swimming, and outside recreation. Classrooms are equipped with age-appropriate toys, books, and educational materials, and the program is described as academic based with small class sizes and low child to teacher ratios. Creative Environment Day School uses the Play To Learn Preschool curriculum, which is centered around hands on learning, creative and meaningful play, and a wide range of thematic units that include literacy and language arts, math, science, art, music, dramatic play, and lessons for learning the alphabet, colors, and shapes. The mission of the school is to provide a safe and enjoyable early learning experience in which children can “Expect the Best” each day. The school states that it is dedicated to the safety, welfare, and education of all those who come through its doors, and that its programs have changed and adapted to the modern family and their needs, including being open for extended hours and most holidays. Lesson plans are created with each specific class in mind, and teachers encourage the individual growth and learning of every child within the program. Founder Sheila C. Brittain and Director Ashley Karkowski are listed as the leadership team.
