The program partners with families and provides a model of advocacy for children, families, and teachers, and states that the health, safety, and well-being of children and families are priorities. It describes a developmentally appropriate environment that supports social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, while respecting the dignity, worth, and uniqueness of each child, family, and colleague. The program promotes pro-social behavior, nonviolence, conflict resolution, respect for cultural diversity, and gender equality, and works in partnership with parents through regular communication. It also states a commitment to a leadership role in public policy on care and education, a philosophy of lifelong learning, and maintaining a standard of excellence. The program identifies a child's safety, happiness, and growth as top priorities, describes a warm, nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and thrive at their own pace, and notes that it celebrates what makes each family unique and works as partners with families. It also states that children learn kindness, respect, and how to be friends in a community that values every voice.
