About the provider

North East Westchester Special Recreation is a community-based therapeutic recreation program for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities. It was incorporated in 1981 and serves over 500 community members in Westchester County, New York. The program’s mission is to enhance physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning and provide confidence building experiences that foster and cultivate meaningful relationships.

Programs are offered to individuals based on age and ability. First-time participants must go through an initial intake process including a Participant Information Form, completion of a medical form by a family physician, and a personal consultation with one of the full-time staff. A moderate fee structure exists for most programs. Program fees must be paid in full at registration unless a payment plan is approved; partial scholarships are available on a limited basis. Participants will be grouped by age and ability at either a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio for Saturday Clubhouse.
