@Jiu-Jitsu NYC Martial Arts Academy offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, MMA, Smarter Yoga, Kettle Bell, Yoga, and both Gi and No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu. The program includes Kids Jiu-Jitsu, Kids Kickboxing, Kids MMA, and Toddlers Jiujitsu, with kids classes that combine fun-filled activities with structured learning and are tailored for ages 5–15. The academy offers comprehensive programs in self-defense for kids and adults, welcoming complete beginners to advanced competitors, and uses state-of-the-art facilities.

The leadership team includes Professor Alvaro Tautiva (Owner and Head Instructor), Daniela (Co-Owner and Coach), Kim-Lien Kendall (Kettlebell Instructor), Alex Castro (Morning Instructor), Santi Furlong (Jiu-Jitsu Instructor), and David Best (Coach). Professor Alvaro Tautiva is a certified expert in Martial Arts with a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a Brown Belt in Judo, trained by Vitor Shaolin in NYC, was a certified fitness trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, holds an Associate Degree in Speech Pathology from LaGuardia Community College, and has medaled in several U.S. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments including New York, Boston, Miami, and Las Vegas. Alex Castro holds the rank of third-degree Black Belt under Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro and has competed and medaled in numerous Grapplers Quest, NAGA, and IBJJF tournaments. Kim-Lien Kendall holds a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has been teaching Yoga since 2005, co-authored the book “Exposing Yoga Myths,” holds a BS in Biochemistry from Florida State University, is certified by Yoga Union, is a MET Master Facilitator, and a certified Redcord Active instructor. Daniela has a Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University, is a 2nd Degree Brown Belt in Shotokan Karate, and a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Professor Alvaro Tautiva earned runner-up status in the IBJJF Masters Worlds championship in 2015 and secured 1st place in the no-gi Pan-Ams championship, with additional titles including IBJJF Summer Open 2017 Brown Belt Master 1 Feather Champion, Pan Jiu-jitsu No Gi IBJJF Championship 2015 Purple Belt Master 1 Feather Champion, World Master Jiu-jitsu IBJJF Championships 2015 Purple Belt Master 1 Second Place, New York Summer International IBJJF Open 2015 Purple Master 1 Second Place, Big Apple Open 2015 Purple Belt Adult Feather Champion, Good Fight 2013 Summer Classic Purple Belt Adult Light Champion, Good Fight 2012 Winter Classic Blue Adult Feather Gi/No Gi Champion and Open Weight Gi Champ, Long Island Pride XVI Blue Open Weight No-Gi Champion, and Boston IBJJF International Open 2012 Blue Belt Feather Third Place. The academy states that it is deeply committed to fostering a sense of community, discipline, and personal growth, and describes community engagement as playing a pivotal role in the holistic development of members.
