Since 1916, The Harvey School has inspired students to pursue what interests them. Harvey’s summer programs celebrate the individual and allow young people to develop their passions and consider new interests in a nurturing, safe environment under the guidance of professional educators and coaches. Summer Programs Director Vinny Alexander has over 25 years of experience in education, is a certified NYS Elementary School Teacher, High School English Teacher, and Principal, and has over 40 years of experience in summer camp programs, including roles as counselor, lifeguard, theater specialist, camp medical director, and camp director. Vinny currently chairs the Performing Arts Department at The Harvey School and directs the summer camp program, and he has been with The Harvey Summer Camp for the last 25 years. Robotics Camp uses components of VEX EDR V4, and AI Camp emphasizes ethical responsibility, career paths in artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary applications. Circus Camp is a performance-based summer camp experience that teaches age-appropriate and level-appropriate skills in daily workshops and does not require prior experience. Hockey Camp aims to foster a love for hockey while helping each player grow as an individual and a competitor and to succeed on and off the ice, and The Harvey Cross Country Camp offers runners the opportunity to train on the 125-acre campus with varied terrain for all sorts of training. The Harvey School is an independent college preparatory school serving students in grades 6–12 with optional 5-day boarding in grades 9–12 and admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on that basis in its policies and programs. One middle school teacher at Harvey states, “A student first needs to feel comfortable in the classroom and know they can trust their teacher before they can really learn,” and a student, Benji ’25, shares, “The wide variety of classes at Harvey has helped me expand my interests and further my knowledge on what I may want to study in college.”
