Kew Kids Forest School

Kew Kids Forest School offers a Waldorf-inspired nature program and all-weather, year-round forest education. Children spend all of their time outdoors except for naps, and the program is play-based with an inquiry-led curriculum. Its offerings include full-day and half-day nature programs, Afterschool in the Forest, and school holiday camps.

• General schedule: During the school year children up to 5 years old are invited to enroll. For afterschool programs and camps throughout the year, children up to 12 years old are welcome. The school year program runs all day outdoors except for naps. Afterschool in the Forest is for the 2026-27 School Year and meets Monday through Friday from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

About the provider

Kew Kids Forest School is part of the growing nature preschool movement and is a member of the Association for Nature-Based Education and the Natural Start Alliance. It was featured in the Warner Bros. docu-series Becoming You in 2020 and took part in an international docu-series focused on climate change and children’s connection to the natural world in 2023. The school also partners with NYC Parks Department for Forest Park Family Volunteer.

• Forest Park Family Volunteer — Toddlers welcome · Second Sunday of Every Month at 9:30am · Join Kew Kids Forest School and NYC Parks Department to help clean forest classrooms and maintain trails in Forest Park. RSVP is required.

4:1 teacher-to-child ratio. Children are under constant supervision. The program is play-based with inquiry-led curriculum. Children spend all of their time outdoors, except for naps. Enrollments are non-refundable. DOE calendar observed. RSVP is required for Forest Park Family Volunteer. Weather permitting is noted for the volunteer event.
