For over 30 years, Double H Ranch has provided outdoor Adirondack adventures for children living with a serious illness. The Double H Ranch, co-founded by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman, provides specialized programs and year-round support for children and their families living with chronic and serious illnesses. The program is an Adirondack camp for children with serious medical conditions and is a member camp of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, a non-profit umbrella organization with a community of 30 camps and programs worldwide serving seriously ill children and their families. The ranch describes itself as a safe place where health challenges do not define the children.
The leadership team includes Alison Wilcox (CEO), Jacqui Royael (Vice President of Operations), Maura Mack Hisgen (Vice President of Development), Kurt Bramer (Facilities Director), and Chris Woll, MD (Medical Director).
Testimonials from campers and families describe their experiences at Double H Ranch. One camper, Jessica, states, “Double H Ranch changed my life in more ways than one. The experiences I had at camp, and the connection I made, will forever be in my heart.” Another camper, Jaiviana from Rochester, NY, shares that she has attended Double H for 6 years and that she hopes to return as a CIT and eventually a counselor. The Sember family describes their daughter Melanie’s time at camp, including whitewater rafting, overnight tent camping, and zip-lining, and thanks everyone involved with Double H Ranch, from nurses and maintenance workers to office staff, board members, corporate partners, and counselors.
