About
Town of Hempstead Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. offers a wide range of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, home economics, drama, clubs, dance, music, equine therapy, surfing, bowling, and swimming. Participants also take part in ocean and pool activities, as well as Saturday Recreation during the year.

Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. is a comprehensive, year-round program that serves thousands of children and adults with special needs who live in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, Long Island. Camp Anchor has been based on Long Island, New York, for the past 50 years. Residents with special needs, five years of age and older, are eligible to participate.
The Anchor Program Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit fundraising organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the Town of Hempstead’s Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. program for the benefit of children and adult residents with disabilities. The Anchor Program Fund is a charitable nonprofit organization that accepts and uses donations to support programs, fund special activities and events, and provide supplies and equipment for individuals with disabilities participating in Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. Your donation supports opportunities for more than 1,200 children and adults with special needs. The Anchor Program Fund describes itself as a fundraising and dream-making organization that enhances and enriches the Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. experience and states that everyone, no matter their physical or intellectual abilities, deserves an opportunity to participate in fun, creative, and socially engaging activities in an inclusive environment where they are safe and loved.
The Anchor Program Fund leadership includes President Susan Cuoccio, Vice President John McKenna, Secretary Caroline Pisaniello, Treasurer Donna LoDuca, and a Board of Directors consisting of Daniel Gigliobianco, Genene Haskell, Patricia Kilduff, Paul Lawless, Helen McDonnell, Kerry Montaigne, Kathleen Nolan Kasal, and TJ Rice. Members include Ann Beloten, Scott Beloten, Elizabeth Callahan, Mary Campbell, Kate D’Agastino-Russo, John Macaluso, Jennifer Marquino, Patricia McCormack, Donna McKibbin, Marianne Pizza (APF Office Manager), and Francine Spitaleri.
The program notes that it has a committed core of volunteers who share their time, talents, and energy through a broad spectrum of volunteer opportunities and activities, supported by a calendar of events for charity events and fundraisers. One testimonial describes Camp A.N.C.H.O.R. as “a world where everyone is normal and new friends are made every day.”
