Blau Weiss Gottschee Soccer Club was established in 1951. The club is a community based youth soccer organization and a 501(c)(3) non-profit youth soccer organization. Its mission is to provide a community based youth soccer program that promotes the development of high quality players by focusing on the mastery of technical skills and encouraging individual creativity. The club endeavors to provide these opportunities to all who wish to participate.

The program has a strong emphasis on technical skills and tactical understanding, with a commitment to nurturing young talent and providing them with a comprehensive training environment. Its technical player development philosophy revolves around instilling a deep understanding of the game and honing the fundamental skills required to excel at the professional level. The program places great importance on ball mastery, individual creativity, and intelligent decision-making on the field, and creates an environment that fosters innovation and encourages players to express themselves freely on the pitch.

In the Zone 1 program, dribbling skills are prioritized over winning, and the development of players’ dribbling abilities takes center stage. This approach aims to cultivate players who are confident in possession and capable of maintaining control in various game situations, fostering players who are comfortable taking on opponents and adept at maintaining possession even in tight spaces. The intramural program provides a great introduction to soccer, fostering a lifelong passion for the sport while building a strong technical foundation.

Blau Weiss Gottschee is a renowned youth soccer club that has gained recognition for its exceptional player development program. Consistent age appropriate training, free play, and high level competition at the later stages has led to the development of two current US Men’s National Team starters, Timothy Weah and Jack McGlynn, as well as other notable current professional soccer players like Omir Fernandez and Dylan Nealis. BWG’s MLS Next program teaches academy players to play confidently in possession, making them highly attractive prospects for college and professional opportunities, and the program’s reputation for producing technically proficient players opens doors for them when applying to colleges or catching the attention of professional scouts.

Blau Weiss Gottschee is a NY Red Bulls Affiliate and part of the New York Red Bulls Academy Affiliate Program, which is part of the MLS Youth Affiliate Network. The New York Red Bulls Academy Affiliate Program is designed to improve the player identification and development of elite youth level players by providing greater access to high level soccer opportunities. The most talented players within the Academy Affiliate Program participate in co-partnered elite player development and talent identification programs operated by both Blau Weiss Gottschee and the New York Red Bulls Academy. Each affiliate is introduced to a coaching education schedule tailored to elite level player identification and development.
