Genesee Country Village & Museum, which runs Youth & Family Camps, was founded in 1966. It is the largest and most comprehensive living history museum in New York State and the third-largest living history museum in the United States, with a recreated historic village that preserves the architecture of the Genesee Valley region, 68 historic buildings, and more than 20,000 artifacts. The museum also includes wildlife paintings, drawings, and sculptures spanning centuries, as well as a 600-acre campus with a Nature Center and living collections. Genesee Country Village & Museum is designated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is chartered as an educational institution by the New York State Board of Regents. Its mission is: “Through immersive experiences, we enrich life today by connecting people with history, art, and nature.” Genesee Country Village & Museum’s programs are made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, as well as other grantors, corporate partners, and individual donors.
