About
Wayne County 4-H Camps offer activities such as gardening, cooking, leadership, team building, problem-solving, creative thinking, and outdoor adventure. Campers at 4-H Camp Beechwood take part in outdoor adventure while building leadership, team building, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills. Gardening & Cooking Camp includes activities in a new Learning Garden and a recently renovated kitchen.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Each summer, the Wayne County 4-H Program offers a 1-week day camp, and 4-H is bringing back for a second year a 1-week camp focusing on gardening and cooking.
• Price: 4-H Camp Beechwood 2026 cost: $225 for 4-H members / $275 for non-4-H members; Gardening & Cooking Camp 2025 cost: $150; Funds may be available to offset the cost of camp.
Since 1916, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Wayne County has responded to the needs of local residents. The mission of Cooperative Extension is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work. A few of the 4-H Camp Beechwood guest presenters are from Sea Grant, Trail Works, Wayne County Soil and Water, and DEC, among others, and Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. CCE-Wayne is a subordinate governmental agency with an educational mission that operates under a form of organization and administration approved by Cornell University as agent for the State of New York, is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and is part of the national cooperative extension system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments. Nancy Gift serves as Executive Director. Teen counselors are utilized and coached to help build leadership skills as well as teach them useful job readiness skills, and these counselors complete an application, develop a resume, submit a letter of reference, organize their own cabins, teach songs, lead activities, and supervise the campers. Space is limited for both 4-H Camp Beechwood and Gardening & Cooking Camp, and funds may be available to offset the cost of camp to make the experience financially accessible to youths who would like to participate.
